Building Decks in the Rain. Are they Mad!

The exterior of the house is pretty much finished, the boys started on the decks

We have reused the old exterior Weatherboard as interior lining in the hallway.

The final amount of gibstopping occurs before they start to paint in the nook.

The exterior decks start, with all the rain and snow. who would want to be a builder in winter!

The builders have their own entertainment when they give the dogs stale sandwiches

Moving at Pace - Counting Down the days!

Now the boys are back on full time after looking after a few of the local farmers things are back to full speed again.
Gib has now been completed on all the rooms and just about finished the main living space.
We ordered a whole lot of flooring from Chch out of the Halswell Hall as a result of the Earthquake.

The Main roof structure is up and by popular request a picture of Jack

After a bit of a slight delay with the main roof in the living space the boys are well back into it.  The Backbone is now up along with the internal beams. It should only be a short few days until the Iron is on and the building is essentially water tight.

As was always anticipated we are starting to run into some time delays and end of June deadline will come and go in the next few days. ETA Completed build Mid August

Looking West from Parsons Road
Looking South, Old wall still remains
Looking East, Guest Wing to Right, Master Wing Centre, Office and Living to Left

Now this will hold some Poop!

Interior roofline of guest Wing, will have T&G roofing, exposed beams

Time is moving on

Sorry for the delay in updates. It is amazing how time flys by.

Finally we can start to see it all coming together, the roof is on 3/4 of the entire property and the flat sections have been laid. This week the guys have been adding the exterior shell of white weather board. I tell you it is like a beacon you could see from space it is so bright. Thank God we wont be keeping it that colour.

As you will see the windows have arrived and are now going in, that is really exciting as in a week or so we can start on the inside.

Current timeline was supposed to be end of June but there is still quite a bit to go, we have been delayed a little by the weather but all in all not too far off track. At this stage end of July which is still pretty acceptable. We want to get the roof on and the shell completed before the heavy weather starts in Mid July August.

Jack! The new member of the Family!!!

Well the time has come to bring a new little one onto Hapuku Kitchen estate. The first of many I suspect. Jack is a Labrador/Huntaway X so Sturge is dead keen to get him out Duck Hunting while Fi is wondering if he could round up the chickens and ducks. Mmmm I sense disaster coming.

I'm Jack and am 6 1/2 Weeks old from Amberley. Mum was a Lab and Dad was a frisky Huntaway

Meg being introduced to Jack!mmmm this will be interesting!

We werent kidding when we said only one wall would remain. It is a bit scary actually. Not sure why we even bothered to keep a single wall.

The one remaining wall!
Looking to the Mountains, thru where the doors will be
Looks like the entrance to a Church!
The rest is roofed and lined! Hang on does that mean more than one roof party!

Few issues just cropping up, the roof setup was not right and therefore we were not able to save any of the existing roof structure. Oh well , Out it came then.

Next Step the roof goes on the living area (AKA School Hall) Man it is huge!!!
Then the windows and cladding. Roll on the next few weeks
